NEW CHOCOLATE INSPIRED IN THE TRIANGLE
Nahualli Trading Co. Announces ‘Chocolate Seeds’ and ‘Oro’
Raleigh, N.C. (Dec. 4, 2007) – For centuries chocolate confectioners have teased fine flavors from the seeds of the cacao tree. With its debut products, Chocolate Seeds and Oro, Nahualli Trading Co. goes a step beyond and combines the flavor of chocolate with roasted cacao seeds. The taste is full, original and created by Nahualli Trading Co. from organic and fair trade ingredients.
The Nahualli Trading Co. will present Chocolate Seeds and Oro at Design Box during Brand Fandango VI Dec. 7-22. Chocolate Seeds are expertly roasted, whole cacao beans covered in dark chocolate. Oro is roasted cacao nibs covered in chocolate and accented with edible gold flakes.
The Nahualli Trading Co. is a start-up chocolate company created by Paul Mosca. The concept for covering cacao seeds in chocolate was inspired with the help of Larry Larson of Larry’s Beans and Ty Beddingfield of Gamila Design.
Several years ago, Larson brought cacao beans back from a trip to Ecuador, and Mosca and Beddingfield began experimenting with how to cover them in chocolate.
“The trouble was in the thin shell around the bean,” said Mosca. “Figuring out how to remove the shell took several years.”
But with perseverance, Chocolate Seeds and Oro were born.
Both confections will be among more than a dozen different collections of local brands and creations featured in Brand Fandango VI. Other brands include Blue Barnhouse, Gamila Teasticks, Pacific Design, Stir Studios and Wootini. Opening on First Friday – Dec. 7, 2007, from 6-10 p.m. – the show will run through Dec 22 at the Design Box Gallery at 323 West Martin Street. The gallery will be open weekdays 10-6 and Saturdays 10-5 during the show period.
